Distracted Driving

According to the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia, an estimated one-in-four deaths on BC roads involves distracted driving. This on-campus installation planned to reduce those odds by putting students face-to-face with a real-world story.

We knew students would be turned-off by a scare tactic or something over-dramatized and sensational. So to peak curiosity and gain trust, we presented the car as a simple, physical document. An objective record of a typical crash. From ICBC’s storage lot of written-off vehicles, we selected a car that has been in a recent collision as a result of texting while driving. We adding an illuminated sign of the last message texted by the driver at the time of the collision. Also, a standing sign was created with a takeaway message and a hashtag to share.
