Practivism6
The speaker for this Practivism event was the data artist, Jer Thorp. He works by drawing connections between large volumes of data points. I really wanted to create something as beautiful as Jer’s pieces but knew nothing about Processing or coding with data. Instead, I used a geometric font and represented each vector as if it were a data point and connected each point with every other point in the text to see what it would look like. I designated a colour for each character and connected everything up manually. With a total of over 40,000 lines, rendering in illustrator was ridiculously slow. I ended up rendering each character individually and compiled it all in photoshop. All the blended colours and the textured contours are a result of these overlapping lines.
